Our history

Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Erich Rößler - The company founder

The founder

Erich Rößler is the father of the company. He was born in Amstetten, Lower Austria, in 1948. From an early age, he pursued the desire to become a gunsmith. At the age of 15, he began apprenticeship in a traditional gunsmith's shop in his hometown. He completed the theoretical part of his apprenticeship at the renowned regional technical school for small arms in Ferlach. After successfully completing his apprenticeship, Erich worked in various gunsmith shops in Niederösterreich. In this way, he was able to expand his knowledge considerably. At the age of 21 he came to Kufstein, Tyrol, because of a job offer. From then on, he works for an internationally known rifle manufacturer. Here, Erich was able to build on his practical experience in the series production of rifles. Even then, Erich possessed great craftsmanship and an extensive knowledge of weapons technology. For this reason, he was soon offered the position of department head of weapons assembly. He filled this post until 1996.

The first steps

How it all began

In 1996, based on his decades of experience, Erich decides to go into business for himself - Rößler Waffen AUSTRIA is born. After only a short time, Erich's son, Walter Rössler, joins the company. He assists his father primarily in the manufacture and machining of mechanical rifle components. Together they pushed forward the production and sales of their products. In the early years, the company focused on custom-made and small batch orders of single shot rifles, shotgun rifles and Bergstutzen. The products were sold under his own name and impressed customers with their extremely solid workmanship and the high quality of the materials used. The hunting community and the competitors quickly became aware of the company. Both showed strong interest in the products of the young company. Competitors approached the company with inquiries and made orders for the series production of 98 bolt-action rifles.

The success story

The success story of father and son

At the end of the 1990s, father and son began working together on the development of TITAN 6®. The idea was to develop a high-quality hunting bolt action rifle, which can be inexpensively passed on to end customers because of high in-house production depth and foregoing investment in marketing. In November 2001, the first shot was fired from the prototype of today's TITAN 6®. This has continued with the full satisfaction of the developers. This product innovation was introduced to the international market just four months later. There was a great deal of interest in a high-quality, high-precision rifle at a reasonable price. The price-performance ratio of the TITAN 6® immediately convinced global players in the hunting industry, such as RUAG Ammotec. Within a few years, the sales of TITAN 6® grew throughout Europe.

MOVE TO NEW PREMISES

MOVE TO NEW PREMISES

The capacity of the plant was exhausted shortly after the market launch of the TITAN 6®. The incoming orders only could be processed with difficulty, given the size of the premises and staffing resources. Erich and Walter Rößler bought the current plant premises in Kufstein in October of the same year. They converted it to meet the needs of the business. Gradually, the dedicated network was further expanded. After only a few years, Rößler AUSTRIA became an internationally active company. The TITAN 6® was available on every continent in the world after just 3 years.

Expansion of the product portfolio

Expansion of the product portfolio

The team of Rößler Waffen - AUSTRIA is in constant exchange with its customers. The changing circumstances of hunting and the needs of hunters are constantly monitored. This exchange has resulted in the product innovation TITAN 16®. The basic idea behind the development of this weapon was the same as for the TITAN 6®: a high-quality rifle at an extremely affordable price. However, the TITAN 16® addresses the special conditions of driven hunts. The rifle was first presented at the international arms exhibition in Nuremberg in 2012.

the story to the SIGNATURE®

A tribute to our family tradition

SIGNATURE®

The SIGNATURE® is more than just a hunting rifle - it is a homage to our family tradition and a signpost to the future. As a successful family business, we at Rössler-RÖWA Rössler-RÖWA have always focused on professionalism, reliability and and marksmanship. These principles have guided us since Erich Rössler founded the company in 1997. Erich Rössler has always been convinced that one must constantly improve and to always be on the move. He laid down this production philosophy in an internal working instruction and signed it with his short signature "re". After the death of Erich Rössler in 2010, his sons Walter and Philipp have continued this philosophy and have now also developed a new rifle model with manual cocking system. As a tribute to the production philosophy laid down by Erich, which is the foundation of the company's success they have decided to give this model the name SIGNATURE. In the figurative mark of the new bolt-action rifle model the last two letters of the SIGNATURE are written in lower case to refer to Erich's short signature "re". The SIGNATURE is thus a signature for quality and innovation and stands for the values and philosophy that have guided us since the foundation of the company. We cordially invite you to convince yourself of the quality of the SIGNATURE and become part of our successful tradition.
